Royal HFC beats Jong FC Volendam, AFC is slowing down

Koninklijke HFC continues to follow the lead of Katwijk in the second division. The team from Haarlem won in an interesting match 3-1 against Jong FC Volendam. After a disastrous phase after the break, AFC was unable to avert a 3-2 defeat against HHC Hardenberg.

Royal HFC – Young FC Volendam

On the Spanjaardslaan, Koninklijke HFC was soon on roses. Sietse Brandsma had already scored twice for the home team within twenty minutes. In the 34th minute, Mehmet Yüksel gave the team of coach Gertjan Tamerus a large 3-0 lead. Ten minutes after the break, Ezechiel Fiemawhle did something in return for the visitors, but the damage was already done.

With the win, Koninklijke HFC continues to follow in the footsteps of leader Katwijk. The deficit on Anthony Correia’s team is five points after 24 games.

HHC Hardenberg – AFC

For AFC it was very important to from HHC Hardenberg. Both teams were only a point away from each other in favor of the Amsterdam-squad. Until the break, the game image was that way, but in the opening phase of the second half, AFC had completely lost it. Thanks to hits from Jesper Drost and Thomas Reijnders (twice), trainer Uli Landvreugd’s team suddenly looked 3-0 behind within ten minutes. Dalian Maatsen and Raily Ignacio still scored in the final phase, but AFC did not go further than 3-2.

After the defeat, AFC remains in sixth place in the second division with 38 points from 23 games. Next Tuesday, AFC will play the make-up game with Spakenburg.
