Rowing World Cup in Racice: Germany eighth in the lead only fourth

Status: 09/20/2022 1:25 p.m

For the Germany eight, the World Cup started with a damper.

In the run-up to the title fights on the regatta course in Racice (Czech Republic), the parade boat of the German Rowing Association had to be content with fourth place and thus missed the direct entry into the final.

The crew around batsman Torben Johannesen (Hamburg) finished well behind the competition from Canada, the Netherlands and Australia and is therefore again challenged in the repechage on Friday (09/23/2022). Five weeks after finishing fifth at the home European Championships in Munich, missing out on the finals would be another disappointment.

Remaining boats on target

On the other hand, the remaining three DRV boats that started on Tuesday in the 14 Olympic classes stayed on schedule. With second repechage places each, the coxswain four, women’s double sculls and easy women’s double sculls made it into the semi-finals.
