Bormes-les-Mimosas (dpa-AfX)-France’s President Emmanuel Macron does not believe that Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin strives for peace. “I think that President Putin wants peace? The answer is no,” said Macron in his summer residence in Bormes-les-Mimosas after a video count for Europeans. “I think he wants the surrender of Ukraine.” With a view to US President Donald Trump, Macron, on the other hand, was convinced that this peace wanted.
Russia’s foreign office spokeswoman Maria Sacharova described Macron’s words as “ranks”. Her explanations make it clear how far the understanding of the conflict between the West and Russia is apart: Russia has proposed a peaceful solution to the “Inner Ukrainian crisis” for seven years as part of the Minsk Agreement to pacify the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, she wrote on Telegram. Three goals and warning of a weak course towards Russia
