Happy faces at the Food Bank Hoogeveen last Friday. Especially with volunteer Arie Dekker. Together with a few other volunteers, he received a check for no less than 5000 euros from Jaap Uiterwijk Winkel, Gertjan Westerman and Roelof Beukinga of Rotary Hoogeveen-de Wolden on Friday.

The amount was collected by the Rotary with the music spectacle Music behind the front door. After two interruptions during the corona years, the music event was able to continue again in February this year. Nearly twenty bands and living rooms made their talents and homes available to receive nearly four hundred people. Jaap Uiterwijk Winkel of the Rotary and the other volunteers heard it a lot: ‘How we have missed this’. “The result was there; not only for the visitors, but also for the good cause that was associated with this.”

More and more Hoogeveen families are calling on support from the Food Bank. Every two weeks they can pick up a food package. While the supply of food by supermarkets, for example, is decreasing. Sometimes the Food Bank has to purchase additional products in order to put together a well-considered package.
