Cristiano Ronaldo is sentenced after five months for smashing a phone from an Everton supporter. The FA disciplinary committee has officially charged the Portuguese striker of Manchester United with “inappropriate and/or violent behaviour”.

Ronaldo knocked a phone out of the hands of a supporter who was filming him after the lost league game against Everton on April 9. The 37-year-old Portuguese, who was visibly annoyed, later apologized via social media. “It’s never easy to keep your emotions in check after difficult moments like the ones we encounter now,” the Portuguese later wrote on Instagram. “Nevertheless, we must always maintain respect, remain calm and set a good example for all young people who love this beautiful game.”

Ronaldo had to answer to the Liverpool police for that incident a few weeks ago. The police closed the case with a warning. The FA will now prosecute Ronaldo. He could be suspended or fined. Manchester United, the club of coach Erik ten Hag, will play the first game after the international match against fellow townsman Manchester City on 2 October.
