Rome, transfer market: Juve likes Karsdorp, Solbakken arrives, Frattesi to dream

The Dutchman ended up on Mou’s blacklist and will have to regain trust or be sold. In January here is the striker from Bodo Glimt, Pinto would like to bring Frattesi home

If José Mourinho allowed himself a week of rest, freeing up players and staff until next Sunday, for Tiago Pinto instead there is no rest. Between now and January, the Roma general manager will be busy planning the winter session: between entries and exits, there are many situations that the man on the Roma transfer market will have to deal with. The most urgent issue is obviously the Karsdorp case, which ended up on the Special One blacklist after the bad night at Mapei Stadium.

Family

In five days the Dutchman will return to Trigoria. From that moment on, Pinto’s hard mediation work will begin, aimed at finding a way to fix things. Mou is enraged by some attitudes shown by the player and, to make him change his mind, the full-back will have to earn a pardon – anything but obvious – on the pitch. If the path of diplomacy were to fail, the only way forward would be the transfer. Juventus is thinking about it and has mandated some intermediaries to test the waters. In Italy, Bologna is also an option. The simplest way would clearly be a loan abroad but – in the event of a farewell – Roma would like to try to monetize it.

Reinforcements from the north

Regardless of the Karsdorp affair, there is at least one incoming operation that the Portuguese executive considers already closed. With the arrival of 2023, a new face will appear at Fulvio Bernardini. We are talking about Ola Solbakken, the Bodo Glimt striker who will leave the yellow and black club on a free transfer on 31 December. Pinto had started working on an agreement with the Norwegian almost a year ago and – after a long negotiation – is ready to welcome him to the capital after beating the competition from Naples and Eintracht Frankfurt. But there’s another Scandinavian the GM is considering. We are talking about Morten Hjulmand, the Danish midfielder of Lecce (expelled during the match played by the Salentines at the Olimpico against Roma).

forbidden dream

In Pinto’s head the name of Davide Frattesi always buzzes, already sought in the summer before colliding with the exorbitant requests of Sassuolo. Bringing the midfielder back to the club where he grew up is still one of the goals of the GM, being able to hit him as early as January, however, risks proving to be extremely complicated. In fact, we must not forget that Roma – in the next four years – will have to respect the stakes of the Settlement Agreement reached with UEFA.

Leaving?

Eldor Shomurodov, the Uzbek who has never convinced Mourinho, is among the question marks. The player would still like to play his chances in yellow and red but, if an offer arrives in Trigoria – deemed fair – to buy him outright, the former Genoa player would also leave to seek his fortune elsewhere. On the other hand, the prices of Matias Vina are on the rise: the commitment shown by the Uruguayan has been appreciated by the coach, who could give him more space. Especially if with Karsdorp it should come to a definitive break.
