Romario’s footprints will be in the PSV Walk of Fame and here’s why

PSV will immortalize one of its best strikers of all time on Saturday evening. The footprints of Romário de Souza Faria will be given a place in the Wall of Fame of the Eindhoven club. We therefore list his most beautiful goals.

1. PSV-Steaua Bucharest (October 1989)
He calls it the most beautiful goal of his years at PSV. The last in the home game against Steau Bucharest. Romario avoids two opponents to hit from an almost impossible angle: 5-1. It is his third goal of the evening. Then he gets a crowd change.

But there were even more gems in the 127 goals he scored in 143 games for PSV. From keepers that he cleverly outplays to clever actions with which he let fellow players score.

2. PSV-RKC (90/91 season).
Thanks to a very far kick from Hans van Breukelen, the ball ends up at Romario. Herman Teeuwen, the RKC goalkeeper, stands a few meters in front of his goal and the Brazilian has seen that well. With a nice lob he shoots the ball (1-0) over the goalie in a home game against RKC that ends in 3-1.

3. PSV-Steaua Bucharest (October 1989)
It is not for nothing that this match is etched in the collective memory of the PSV fans. Romario is on a roll. He had to miss the match against RKC because of a disciplinary punishment from trainer Hiddink, the irritated striker gets his gram. He is faster than three Romanian defenders and taps the ball into the goal just in front of the outgoing goalkeeper Silviu Lung: 3-1.

4. PSV-Ajax (89/90 season)
Romario will face Ajax player Peter Larsson one against one and there he is. A feint to the left and the Ajax player is seen. The keeper also has no chance. The match ends in 2-0, both goals are in the name of the creative.

5. PSV-RKC (season ’88/89).
“Have a good day”, the TV commentator reacts to Romario’s hard shot in the right corner. Not his prettiest, but a nice one in a duel in which he makes three. Final score: 5-2.
