The biathletes’ season begins in Östersund at the end of November. It is now clear who will be there from the German side – and who will not.
The German biathletes start the first World Cup of the season without Johannes Kühn and Roman Rees. Both veterans did not make it into the squad for the first races in Östersund in Sweden.
As the German Ski Association (DSV) announced on Instagram, in addition to the seeded Justus Strelow and Philipp Nawrath, the team also includes Lucas Fratzscher, Simon Kaiser, Philipp Horn and Danilo Riethmüller. The quartet prevailed in the final internal elimination races in Idre, Sweden.
Fratzscher took first place in the combined qualifying ranking from the German championship and the first snow race in Idre. There he won, among other things, the second sprint against international competition. Kaiser received the ticket as second on this list. Horn and Riethmüller were nominated by coach’s decision.
In addition to Kühn and Rees, David Zobel and young runner Leonhard Pfund also missed qualification. You now have to recommend yourself in the IBU Cup first.
