Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich has officially sold its Premier League club Chelsea. The purchase price is $ 5.3 billion.

New group of owners led by US investment firm Clearlake Capital Group and MLB co-owner of Los Angeles Dodgers Todd Boehly.

Abramovich announced he was selling Chelsea in early March after Russia invaded Ukraine. Abramovich belongs Vladimir Putin and is known to have been in charge of the president’s finances in the past.

The United Kingdom put Abramovich on the sanctions list shortly after the March announcement.

The UK government approved the sale of Chelsea last week. Abramovich will not benefit financially from the sale, which made the deal possible.

Abramovich has owned Chelsea since 2003. During Russian ownership, Chelsea became one of the wealthiest club teams in Europe.
