International pop stars are guests in rustic Gelsenkirchen. After the English mega-bard Ed Sheeran, the Rolling Stones are playing another concert in Germany on Wednesday (July 27) as part of their 60-year live anniversary tour.
Around 50,000 fans are expected to come from the entire federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia as well as from neighboring Holland and Belgium. The show is not completely sold out. Remaining tickets are available online. Before the Stones commemorate the legendary rampage concert in Berlin’s Waldbühne (August 3rd) with an “intimate” tribute to 1966 gig next week, a big day awaits the regional transport company.
Arrive early!
The Bochum Gelsenkirchen trams (Bogestra) put all the equipment on the rails so that line 302 can run in the special cycle for major events. Recommendation of the railways: Arrive early!
Also because many Stones fans will use their nine-euro ticket, and it can therefore be even tighter on the lanes that are not designed for metropolitan operations than on a normal Bundesliga match day.
Police traffic tips
The local police have all sorts of tips and tricks up their sleeve. For example: to park on the left and right of the railway track; so that you don’t get stuck in the traffic muddle around the arena – and only make a little progress 100 minutes after the last guitar riff.
Those who know the area recommend that long-term drivers take the “Herten” exit on the A2 and not “Buer”. It doesn’t matter what the sat nav says with a Klingon voice. By the way, according to information from “Bild”, the Rolling Stones sleep in the realm of Fortuna Düsseldorf. Namely in the posh five-star hotel Breidenbacher Hof near Cologne, where the price goes up from 375 euros per night.
