The carpenters will release a new album on May 26th entitled “The carpenters play skafighter”. They reflect back on their musical roots, on their former identity – as “Skafighter”. Founded under this name in 1979 and later renamed Ede & Die Zimmermann and then just Die Zimmermann in the early 1980s, the band had a significant influence on Neue Deutsche Welle. Band founder Detlef Diedrichsen: “We felt a certain regret not having recorded the first German-language ska album that we had actually had in us. And thought about whether it might be possible to undo this mistake afterwards…?”
They also present the answer live at five concerts, presented by ROLLING STONE. The first single from the record, “Lieselotte”, has been available since last Friday (March 17).
