Cyclist Melissa Hoskins was killed in a car accident. Now her own husband is pleading guilty.

Former Australian cyclist Rohan Dennis has pleaded guilty following a car accident in which his wife Melissa Hoskins died, according to media reports. The 34-year-old was charged with, among other things, dangerous driving resulting in death.

Dennis now admitted in the Adelaide Magistrates Court to a less serious charge, namely that he created a situation in which someone could be harmed. The other charges were dropped after a deal with the public prosecutor, as reported by the BBC, ABC and 9News, among others.

Former cyclist Hoskins died in hospital at the end of December 2023 at the age of 32. She was hit in Adelaide, South Australia, by a vehicle that was said to have been driven by Dennis.

The 2018 and 2019 individual time trial world champion was arrested after the incident, but was released on bail shortly afterwards. He then had to appear before the Adelaide Magistrates Court. The verdict against Dennis, who has two children with Hoskins, is expected at a later date.
