It is the main match of the evening, which will be held at the Barclays Center in New York.
The matter was confirmed on Wednesday evening by Helenius’ manager Markus Sundman.
– Now the match is certain. Now we are on as big a stage as can be. I cannot reveal the size of the match fee. Only “Robbe” himself can tell that. That’s a good reward.
Is the reward the biggest of Helenius’ career?
– It is the biggest of his career, Sundman said.
According to Sundman, both camps wanted the match.
– We were in agreement about it quite a long time ago. The dates are just stretched out.
There is also a tickling extra carrot attached to the match. The reigning WBC world champion Tyson Fury recently announced that he was ending his career. The American Wilder is the number one challenger of the same association.
In other words, Helenius can even get to fight for the World Championship title in New York.
– The WBC has asked Fury to officially vacate his title by August 26. If the belt remains free, I believe it will be on our table then, Sundman reflected.
Helenius is number 12 on the WBC challenger list.
Helenius, who lives and trains in Åland, has risen to the top of the heavyweight division with two consecutive victories From Adam Kownacki.
Wilder, who won 42 fights and lost two as a professional, lost to Fury in October last year. The British champion knocked out Fury in the last match of the trilogy.
