Robbie Fowler stormed for Liverpool and the England national team and became so famous. However, fans were currently worried about the 50-year-old.
Shocking moment for English football fans: Former England international Robbie Fowler has made a skin cancer diagnosis public. The 50-year-old recently underwent facial surgery to remove a so-called basal cell carcinoma.
Fowler shared photos before and after surgery on his social media channels. He wrote: “Recently a few people have been telling me the same thing: get those spots/pimples checked, it could be basal cell carcinoma. Luckily it was caught early.”
Basal cell carcinoma is considered one of the most common forms of skin cancer. Numerous companions wished the former goalscorer a speedy recovery. Ex-Liverpool professional Luis Garcia wrote: “Get well soon, mate.”
Fowler scored 163 Premier League goals and was named Young Player of the Year in 1995 and 1996. He played 26 international matches for England. After retiring, he worked as a trainer, most recently in Saudi Arabia.
