On Saturday night, the police arrested a man and a teenager who wanted to rob a shop on Perleberger Strasse in Moabit.

A failed robbery in Moabit led to the arrest of a 26-year-old and a 17-year-old on Saturday night. According to initial findings, both of them entered a shop on Perleberger Strasse around 11:45 p.m.

There the man is said to have threatened a 24-year-old employee with a knife and asked her to open the cash register. The woman then barricaded herself in the back of the store. According to police, the teenager tried to open the cash register but failed. He grabbed the employee’s purse instead.

The robber duo fled on foot, but didn’t get very far. An off-duty police officer responded immediately and gave chase in his car. Alarmed colleagues finally arrested her on Quitzowstrasse.

The knife used in the crime was later confiscated by officers. Only the 24-year-old’s bag was no longer found. The two suspects were taken to the station by the police. She is now being investigated.
