Rob Kemps back with talk show after meager viewing figures? ‘Doubtful case’

Rob Kemps has not really presented a calling card with the first series of his talk show The 10 Questions. His scores were meager and it turned out he didn’t come up with the questions himself. Will this come back?

Rob Kemps’ TV career started off well, but his switch to SBS 6, his sudden outbursts of anger and his friendship with the controversial Matthijs van Nieuwkerk did him no good. To make matters worse, he was exposed this week as the ventriloquist dummy of top interviewer Antoinnette Scheulderman.

ventriloquist dummy

Rob could be seen all week at the time of Today Inside with his new interview show De 10 Questions. In addition to screaming ‘from left to right’ on a stage, presenting a hysterical quiz and wandering through Paris in love with Matthijs, this Snollebolleke also turns out to be an interview talent. Or not?

After a few broadcasts, Yvonne Coldeweijer revealed that Rob does not come up with his questions at all, but has them whispered by Antoinnette. That juice got in no time a fact, because two of his guests confirm that image: both Patricia Paay and Johan Derksen state that Rob is a kind of TV ventriloquist dummy.

Can Rob continue?

Can Rob continue with this format? It will feel quite uncomfortable for his future celebrity guests if they know that Rob is only there to parrot Antoinnette.

Given the meager viewing figures, former SBS 6 boss Tina Nijkamp thinks it will be difficult. “The finale with Patricia Paay, the only woman in the series, was the worst-watched episode with 407 thousand viewers and only 6.7 percent market share in the important commercial target group 20 to 54 years old. It scored less than RTL 5 with 112 Today.”

Doubt case

Tina does not know whether the channel top will order a second season. “Did it score well enough for a second series? Think it’s questionable. It is not expensive to make. However, it turned out to be very guest-dependent whether it scores or not.”

She continues: “It was also almost all old people who were interviewed. And all showbiz. So maybe two Dutch celebrities per episode next season and a bit more diverse in terms of age and profession?”

Patricia responds

Patricia Paay also makes herself heard. “As I said in HLF8, I quickly had the impression that the (continued) asking for more answers and additional questions did not come from him,” she writes. Instagram. “Later it turned out that I was right and that a professional journalist was driving all this backstage.”

She concludes: “I don’t think Rob needs any of this. He is a very nice, calm and cozy personality who I think could have done this more on his own feeling. Then it comes across much more naturally. He just has to stay true to himself and it will all work out!”
