Rob Jetten causes annoyance by displaying his cuddling with his friend Nicolás Keenan on social media. It all comes across as too artificial, says celebrity photographer William Rutten. “Set on stage!”
The socials of Rob Jetten and his lover Nicolás Keenan are overflowing with videos and photos of them hugging, laughing and dancing. And that is welcome content for a program like Show news. “You can see from these images that they are really extremely happy together,” reporter Janine Schuinder notes in that program.
Point of criticism
Celebrity photographer William Rutten is a bit bothered by this. “Can I have a point of criticism? I also think that those images… You really see that a telephone is placed in a corner and then they hug in front of the camera. I think it’s all very staged. You will probably become Prime Minister!”
Janine: “Is it different than with celebrities?”
William: “Yes, a little bit…”
Very staged
Celebrity expert Bart Ettekoven agrees. “For politicians… Except for Thierry Baudet, who once posed naked… You don’t see this from the average politician. Right?”
William: “It’s allowed, but I notice it. It’s very bad staged all.”
Janine: “There may be a whole media plan behind that, but I also think it’s cute to see.”
Kissing and cuddling
Presenter Annemarie Brüning is not surprised. “You also saw it when campaigning, right?”
Janine: “Yes, he is involved all the time. If someone is married to a woman, that woman or the family is also very much involved, to show: ‘I am a family man or a family person.’”
Finally, Telegraaf reporter Jordi Versteegden: “I personally expect that he will do less when he really becomes Prime Minister. Kissing and cuddling in front of the camera between reading the files, yes, that does not improve your credibility. ‘Yes, Trump, I do this in my spare time!'”
