RKC Waalwijk has qualified for the eighth finals of the KNVB Cup tournament. The number 17 of the Eredivisie was too strong for SC Cambuur, which came one step lower, on Tuesday evening in its own stadium with a score of 4-1.
It marked RKC’s second official victory of this half of the season. In competitions, coach Henk Fraser’s team has won only once so far.
The home club only needed fifteen minutes to open the score against Cambuur. Oskar Zawada ran into a low cross from Julian Lelieveld. Tony Rölke helped Cambuur, number 5 in the Kitchen Champion Division (KKD), tie the score again with a shot from a difficult angle: 1-1. Former Cambuur player Silvester van der Water gave RKC the lead again after halftime from a rebound (2-1). Yassin Oukili headed in the third Waalwijk goal in the 73rd minute, after which Faissal Al Mazyani made the final score 4-1 with a diagonal shot.
‘Honorary goal’ Daan Huisman
The cup tournament is over for FC Eindhoven. The team was no match for Excelsior in a KKD match. The leader of the first division defeated number 12 1-3. Zach Booth scored two goals on behalf of Excelsior in the first half hour, before Eindhoven midfielder Daan Huisman pulled something back after the break. Jacky Donkor scored the visitors’ third goal in injury time, 1-3.
Earlier in the evening, PSV won, as expected, with a big difference against the amateurs of Koninklijke HFC.
