RKC takes the lead early, but turns out to be no threat to Ajax

One half it seemed that RKC Waalwijk was going to play a stunt against Ajax, but the early 0-1 lead disappeared after the break. Ajax eventually won 3-1.

The Waalwijkers did not make it easy for Ajax in the opening phase and came out dangerous a few times, partly thanks to Julen Lobete who created two chances. After a nice attack build-up, Mats Seuntjens RKC took the lead in the 17th minute.

Just before half-time, the home club took control, but thanks to a compact defensive RKC, chances were not forthcoming.

Offside
The equalizer came immediately after the restart. Subbed Brian Brobbey tapped the ball into the goal at the far post. It took a while before Ajax really ran out. Still, RKC continued to provide dangerous moments. Seuntjens even scored a second goal, but that was disallowed for offside.

In the 78th minute it was defender Jurriën Timber who brought relief to the Amsterdam side (2-1). Mohammed Kudus then made the 3-1 and then the Waalwijk resistance was really broken.

The team from Amsterdam remained in the footsteps of leader Feyenoord through the win. RKC remains number 9 in the ranking after the 21st round.
