The luggage specialist Rimowa has opened a new flagship store in Cologne.
In its hometown, the traditional company, which has been part of the French luxury goods group Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (LVMH) since 2017, is now using premises in the centrally located Dom-Carré (Am Hof 1). According to a statement, the store is located in the immediate vicinity of the first headquarters of the brand, which was founded in 1898. It has a total area of almost 500 square meters, spread over two floors.
CEO Hugues Bonnet-Masimbert was happy about returning to the roots. “The history of Rimowa began in Cologne over a century ago,” he explained. “By returning to our historic hometown location, we want to celebrate the refined craftsmanship, innovative spirit and world-class service that Rimowa embodies.”
In the new flagship store, the company is offering the “Crafted for You” service for “tailor-made suitcases” for the first time. Interested customers can now choose the individual dimensions, materials and details of their luggage in a specially set up studio.
“The new program revives the Maison’s origins as a custom-made manufacturer and once again celebrates engineering, allowing customers to customize the suitcase silhouette and adapt every detail to their unique travel and storage needs,” the company explained. “From initials to a curated selection of leathers, linings, colors and custom finishes, the program offers more than a million possible combinations for the Rimowa Classic in silver.”
