Rijkswaterstaat reports vandalism and threats

Rijkswaterstaat is going to report damage caused to the roads by, among other things, the dumping of waste and burning hay bales, and threats and defamation. Michèle Blom, director-general Rijkswaterstraat, reports this on Thursday in the talk show Renze. “Our people are threatened and intimidated, not only our employees but also the contractors we deploy to clean this up,” said Blom in the talk show. “This is really going too far.”

In recent days, asbestos, waste, straw bales and car tires have been dumped on several highways in protest against the government’s nitrogen policy.

“It concerns our property that has been damaged. Costs are incurred to restore it. We want to recover them,” confirms a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat. According to him, it concerns several hundred thousand euros. Threats come in at Rijkswaterstaat, among other things, at the customer contact center and by e-mail, according to the spokesman.
