Ridley Scott is reportedly in talks for Bee Gees biopic

Ridley Scott could be the director of the film about the Australian pop group.

Ridley Scott could direct the upcoming Bee Gees biopic. According to reports from “Deadline Hollywood” Anonymous sources close to the project have reportedly told the magazine that Scott is currently in negotiations with Paramount Pictures, which is behind the band’s biopic.

Bee Gee biopic has been in planning since 2019

Neither a title nor a release date has been set for the film yet. What should already be clear, however, is the screenwriter. This is said to be John Logan, who wrote works such as “Gladiator” (2000) and has already worked with Ridley Scott. Barry Gibb, the last surviving brother and member of the Bee Gees, will produce the film. The film aims to chronicle the lives and careers of the Gibb brothers: Barry, Maurice and Robin, the latter of whom died in 2003 and 2012 respectively.

A biopic about the Bee Gees has been in the works at Paramount for several years. It was first announced in 2019, with Graham King also set to produce. Two years later, it was announced that Kenneth Branagh would direct the film and that the screenplay would come from Ben Elton. However, Branagh later dropped out of the project for unknown reasons, after which John Carney stepped in as director in March 2022, but dropped out again due to scheduling conflicts. He was replaced by “Hustlers” director Lorene Scafaria in December 2022.

Now Ridley Scott is apparently set to bring the story of the Bee Gees to the big screen. The 86-year-old made film history with “Alien” and also in films such as “Hannibal” (2001), “All the Money in the World” (2017) and “House of Gucci” (2021) and most recently “Napoleon” with Joaquin Phoenix proved his skills in the lead role.
