Rick Carlisle and the Indiana Pacers agree on an early contract extension for several years after moving into the NBA finals together.

The team announced this on Tuesday. Led by Carlisle as Head Coach, the Pacers moved the first email to the final series since 2000, at that time Carlisle was a Larry Bird assistant coach on the sidelines.

Carlisle was already head coach of the Pacers from 2003 to 2007 before moving to the Dallas Mavericks for 13 seasons and a championship with Dirk Nowitzki. In 2021 he returned to the Pacers.

The Pacers around the spectacular Tyrese Haliburton reached the Eastern Conference Finals this year for the second time in a row, in the previous year they failed due to the overwhelming Boston Celtics.

NBA: Carlisle is the oldest coach of the NBA

In the second attempt, it worked against the New York Knicks, who then released her head coach Tom Thibodeau. Since then, Carlisle has been the oldest active head coach in the NBA at the age of 65.

Carlisle has a record of 993 victories and 860 defeats in this office, so he can become an eleventh coach in the league history with 1,000 victories early in the next season. Among the active head coaches is only Doc Rivers from the Milwaukee Bucks in front of him.

On the eternal list of winners of the playoffs, Carlisle is in tenth place with 86 games won in the Postseason. Rivers, Erik Spoelstra from the Miami Heat and Steve Kerr (Golden State Warriors) are the active trainers who are in front of him.
