Berlin (dpa -AfX) – The armaments group Rheinmetall wants to deliver its new air defense system Skyranger to defense the drone. A corresponding contract will be signed on Wednesday at the DSEI Defense Fair in London, CEO Armin Papperger told the ZDF magazine “WISO”. “The first ones will be delivered this year.” According to the magazine, it is a business in the three -digit millions.
Skyranger is a mobile aircraft system that can be mounted on vehicles. “Each of these systems can cover four times four kilometers to be completely drone -free,” said Papperger.
Ukraine is currently attacked by Russia with the heaviest air strikes since the beginning of the war. With hundreds of drone at the same time, the Russians always manage to overload the Ukrainian air defense.
This gives Ukraine the Skyranger before the Bundeswehr. Germany, based in Düsseldorf, also issued a large order of 595 million euros to deliver a prototype and other 18 series vehicles.
