“Revolutionary” model conceivable in the future?

The news of the end for Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn at FC Bayern turned a lot of things upside down. While the successor to CEO Kahn was quickly settled, the search for a new sports director is proving more difficult. Long-time commentator Marcel Reif can imagine an “English model” in the future.

At “Bild” Reif explained: “The position is not that easy to fill. I think it will for a long time, maybe even change the paradigms, result in Karl-Heinz Rummenigge practicing a model with Thomas Tuchel that in England is commonplace and would be a bit revolutionary for us.”

What is meant is that Tuchel is not only the coach of FC Bayern, but also acts as a kind of “team manager”, similar to Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool FC, for example, who has a major say in transfer matters in particular.

Bayern coach Tuchel is said to be promoting Rice and Vlahovic

It is fitting that the most hotly debated names at the moment should clearly be Tuchel’s dream players. The FC Bayern coach should advertise strongly internally for both West Ham star Declan Rice and Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

In order for these transfers to be implemented, the German record champions must also earn money. While the departures of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernández are becoming more and more apparent and, according to Reif, “open another big construction site in Munich”, the 73-year-old believes that Leroy Sané and Sadio Mané will be difficult to sell.

Either way, an extremely interesting transfer summer is emerging in Munich, at the end of which Thomas Tuchel could emerge as the big winner. Should FC Bayern actually rely on an “English model”, the ex-BVB coach would probably be the “most powerful” Bayern coach in history, concluded Reif.
