REVIEW. ‘The Rings of Power’: “Mighty, beautiful and even musically tight. Amazon hasn’t screwed up (for now)”

The most expensive series ever made equals a lot of excitement, but also mistrust, defensive attitudes and – we stay in the fantasy genre – online trolling by conservative Tolkien fans who don’t want their beloved books through the megalomaniac meat grinder of a capitalist concern such as Amazon. But tomorrow (and on the exact date of the death of author JRR Tolkien) is the day when we can stop dowsing en masse and finally know: has this TV prequel to ‘The Lord of the Rings’ lived up to the colossal expectations? Or has Amazon taken too much hay on the ‘Orc’? Evelien Delgouffe will find out for you in our ‘Viewing guide’.
