Psych-Rock is a delimitation music, which is why the genre is repeatedly reinterpreted from a regional point of view. The sextet Sanam uses it as a framework for expansive experiments, which are characterized by the improv tradition of their hometown Beirut as well as folkloric Levantine forms and their new interpretations.
Recommendations of the editorial team
Above the stubborn grooves of the rhythmicism of Antonio Hajj and Pascal Semerdjian, which sometimes docked on motor skills, Farah Kaddour (Buzuq), Anthony Sahyoun (guitar and synthesizer) and Marwan Tohme (guitar) contain close melodies and harmonies, sometimes theatrical, sometimes theatrical Emphasis-controlled-auto-tune is also used-vocals offer a stage.
Sanam create a lot of calm on Sametou Sawtan, all the more urgency, in which experiences of different economic and social crises as well as not least a brutal war railway seem to break. Psych rock can be a lot, but it rarely sounded emotionally impressive.
