Clear, melancholic chamber music by the Notwist bassist.

The Notwist was always drawn to new musical places. You could already hear it on the early noise and hardcore-oriented albums, later the music became more and more diversified: electronic, jazz, kraut. But the sound remained recognizable, a tonality that no other band has. This sound also runs through the first solo album by Notwist bassist (also trumpet, flugelhorn, keyboards, trombone) Micha Acher.

For HENRY AND THE GHOSTS SONGBOOK, Acher has rearranged pieces by The Notwist, his jazz ensemble Tied & Tickled Trio and his indie-pop duo Ms. John Soda for a small ensemble. No more or only a little indietronics, but mostly analogue, bass clarinet, piano, bassoon, banjo and then, however, reserved electronics. Not as one-to-one cover versions, but instrumentally and partly with new titles, some tracks only record one melodic line.

Multi-layered, musically concentrated melancholy is brought to life. The melodies that have been known from Micha Acher’s bands for decades creep into your ears and heart once again. A beautiful, completely calm solo debut from a musician who cares about nothing other than the music.
