Lasse Winkler cannot really be grasped. Sometimes it is a kind of dance music that shapes the Berlin’s tracks, it looks current and informs, looks towards the radio, disco and electric. Elsewhere, Pop takes over the narrative voice, then we hear claims and battle calls, often very associative. This duality makes sense, it is known that Winkler publishes pure, pleasantly fucking electric tracks as ACUUD.
Under real names, he now seems to live out his love for the song on the world. It is close to, well, well, blues (“soul -related curb”), sometimes pleasantly associative (“tomorrow is peace”) or starts off (“Ivy”). Winkler’s voice clings these quite different tracks by choosing the big gesture in case of doubt.
This makes this music very special and gives it soul; References can sometimes be found in the electropop of early aclitians such as The Aim of Design is to Define Space or Jeans team. But in the next moment, in the title song “World Airk”, Andreas Spechtl’s electric guitar suddenly cuts these ancestry lines like a rusty pocket knife. Different. Interesting.
