Idlewild started her career at the end of the 1990s between Postbritpop and Emo-in their best moments, the Scots sounded like doped rem. Singer Roddy Woomble made a solo career as a folk pop singer, and because Idlewild albums only appeared sporadically, one would not have been surprised if the group would have closed. But now: idlewild – named after the band, which is always a sign.

That you are still there. And that you think you know how to sound. Unfortunately, Idlewild make a mistake: you play the new songs too quietly, too slowly, too well. The band was always good when real Furor was felt. When the musicians opened their roots, which can also be found in the Fugazi Post Hardcore or the early Midwest emo bands.
Songwriting on Idlewild goes okay, Woomble has a good feeling for melodies anyway and the correct use of the words. However, an interesting arranged piece such as “The Mirror Still” tolerates significantly more dynamics. The class of the best band phase rarely flashes, most likely at “Writers of the Present Time”, a meta piece about the art of writing in the present.
