The fun society strikes back: post-Brit pop for the canned beer party in the provinces.
When all the British bands suddenly seemed cool and fresh for a moment in 2005, hard-fi were there too. Their album STARS OF CCTV had a lot of hits to offer; songs like “Tied Up Too Tight”, “Hard To Beat”, “Living For The Weekend” and “Cash Machine” were always included at the indie dance floor summer of 2005. Looking back, it all seemed like great fun. The two subsequent albums in 2007 and 2011 no longer fit the time.
Now hard-fi are making a comeback. Band leader Richard Archer has since married, his wife is Central American, he traveled to El Salvador and followed in the footsteps of Joe Strummer and the world traveler Manu Chao.
All is well, but please never again use these experiences to write such a horrible tourist song like “Digo Nada”. If Archer just hints at the Latin inspiration, it sounds a little better. With “Looking For Fun” Hard-Fi finds its way back to its true purpose: post-Britpop for the canned beer party on a pier in the provinces.
