Review: Ferris :: Everyone hates Ferris

Still “antisocial and finished”? Still interested in “radical left-wing hits”? “Hey!” Ferris roars, “Ho!” replies the chorus, followed by a scooter didip dip while the guitars bang. Yes, this is a guitar album again – the third since he left Deichkind in 2018. “I used to be a rap god,” sings Ferris, and indeed: on ALL HATE FERRIS, the hip-hop past is only a distant memory .

And then again not: “Bye Bye Bye” is a not uninteresting hybrid between Da-komm-ich-her-rap and rock ballad, a collaboration with the frontman of Swiss and the others – and one of several collaborations. Finch, the flagship Brandenburger, is part of “Freizeit undkuchen”, a great blunt electro pounder that any Deichkind crowd would cheer for.

“What is left” again, a duet with SDP singer Dag-Alexis Kopplin, is a pretty successful tribute to Toten Hosen
Big ass guitars and stadium refrain – and not the only song that looks at the past wild times and the hubris of today more melancholy than angry. I mean: Sascha Reimann deals with the whole range of his past, even if – both musically and in terms of content – mostly quite woodcut-like.
