Borussia Dortmund’s handball players can start again in the Champions League in the coming season. As the European Handball Association (EHF) announced on Tuesday, the application of the Dortmundians was confirmed. The German champion HB Ludwigsburg had already been qualified prematurely.

For Dortmund it is the first participation in the most important European club competition since the 2021/22 season. In order to be able to start again in the group phase of the 16 teams, the Borussia had to apply – which was now approved by the “EHF and club representatives consisting of the evaluation group according to the criteria specified in the competition regulations”.

Among other things, the top teams HBC Nantes (France) and Industria Kielce (Poland) received a promise for the men. Defending champion SC Magdeburg and the new German champion Füchse Berlin had already been qualified prematurely. The two eight -member groups of the Champions League of men and women will be drawn in Vienna on June 27th.
