Return to Paradisethe second episode tonight on Rai 2

The forced stay of Mackenzie Clarke (Anna Samson) in Australia is lightened by the collaboration undertaken with the local police station. In the town everything is ready for the charity marathon. Just before it begins, the inspector receives a voice message from Curtis Faleafar (Callan Colley). AND a local entrepreneur who asks her for help: he suggests, in fact, that you take action as soon as possible because many lives are at risk.

At the end of the race, Curtis suddenly collapses and there is nothing he can do. The Dolphin Cove homicide squad investigates the case and Mackenzie Clarke plays the message to Colin Cartwright (Lloyd Griffith) and Philomena Strong (Catherine McClements). Also present is Glenn (Tai Hara), who ventures some hypotheses, such as an undiagnosed heart malformation.

Mackenzie raises the hypothesis of poisoning and is certain that that phone call is linked to the murder. Rummaging through the victim’s clothing, he then finds a note with a telephone number written on it. Why did he call her? What had he discovered and what did he try to tell her? The inspector takes action. He questions Curtis’ girlfriend, Jade McCready (Naomi Sequeira), a successful influencer. The girl only remembers seeing him drinking from a glass at the refreshment point specially set up for the marathon.

Who killed Curtis?

The first problems arise immediately. First of all, the fact that the poisoned liquid was present on only one glass among all those abandoned at the refreshment point. So Mackenzie has another question to answer. Had the killer already decided to kill Faleafar or was he pursuing the intent to poison and kill more people?

If he had wanted to carry out a massacre, he could have contaminated all the glasses. If, however, Curtis was the predetermined victim, how would it have been possible for the killer to have been certain that he would drink from the poisoned cup? Is he perhaps a person connected to the entrepreneur, very close to him, therefore with great influence over him?

It turns out that Curtis and Jade had just finalized a large financial deal worth several tens of millions of dollars. Inevitably suspicions focus on the girlfriendbut there are many people who revolve around the influencer community. But who is the real culprit?

Return to ParadiseMackenzie comes to terms with the past

Mackenzie still deals with the localsfrom Trevor Bongiovanni (Ron Smyck) to his mother’s friends. They still haven’t forgiven her for leaving Glenn at the altar and do nothing to hide their disappointment. Colin is the first to take a step towards herinviting her for a drink and to apologize for her behavior.

And then there’s Glenn. Relations with the ex-boyfriend are not particularly tense, but the two have difficulty communicating. Indeed, it is Clarke who feels uncomfortable, particularly when she observes him happy with his new girlfriend Daisy Dixon (Andrea Demetriades) and especially when his memory returns to the past.

There is one person, however, on whom he can count: it is Philomena. Her ex-mother-in-law advises her to be softer towards others and to be understanding with those who accuse her of having made a mess. After all, that’s what happened.
