Return to FC Bayern? New trend with Joshua Zirkzee

FC Bayern handed over attacker Joshua Zirkzee to FC Bologna in the summer of 2022 after several loan deals. However, the Munich-based company has guaranteed a buyback clause. Now there seems to be a trend emerging as to whether the Dutchman will soon be hunting for goals again for the German record champions.

According to Sky, Joshua Zirkzee’s return to FC Bayern is currently not a hot topic.

The 22-year-old has delivered ten goals and four assists in 27 games in the current Serie A season – and has thus caught the eye of big clubs. The top Italian clubs Juventus Turin, AC Milan and Inter are said to be thinking about signing him in the summer.

Since FC Bayern had a buyback clause stipulated in the negotiations with Bologna, a return to Säbener Strasse was recently repeatedly considered an option. According to reports, the German record champions will not extend the expiring contract with attacker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, whose squad position could therefore become vacant for the new season.

Zirkzee return to FC Bayern? Rummenigge leaves the possibility open

Supervisory board member Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the “Gazzetta dello Sport” at the beginning of March: “We have just got a new sports director in Max Eberl. I don’t want to interfere in his work. He has to prove that he has the great qualities I trust him. I don’t want to influence him. I don’t know if the clause will be activated or not, it is part of the market that will take place in the summer.”

As “Sport Bild” recently reported, FC Bayern would have to transfer 20 million euros for Zirkzee. 8.5 million euros moved from Bologna to the Munich account in the summer of 2022.

The extent to which Zirkzee can actually play for a top European club again in the summer probably also depends on his health. The striker is out until the end of March due to an injury to his hamstring muscle.
