Said, put in front of the block and only little clarity about their future. Residents of Schoonoord are anything but speaking about the way in which Housing Foundation WoonService deals with them. The corporation will demolish 96 social rental homes, which only partly return.
The uncertainty and lack of a clear plan bumps heavily against the inhabitants. Tonight they came to complain en masse at the committee meeting in the town hall of Coevorden. “This produces so much stress, anger, sadness and sleep deprivation.”
At the end of February, the Schoonoord-Noord district was startled by plans from WoonService. There are 59 outdated homes in the neighborhood, of which 32 social rental homes are being demolished. For this, 13 rental properties and 14 owner -occupied homes are returned. About a week later a letter also plopped on the doormat with residents in Zuid. Here, 37 homes go down, for which 30 to 32 social rental homes return in the demolition area. Local residents describe the state of affairs as a nightmare.
Tonight, during the committee meeting of the municipality of Coevorden, the grandstand was packed with residents from both neighborhoods. Four spoke on behalf of the residents’ group about the state of affairs. The first, Erik Zefat, criticized the lack of clarity behind this step. “Except for the not so nice message, we have no idea what, where and why.”
According to Zefat, nobody knows where he or she stands. “We do not know where we will have to go and whether we can ever return to Schoonoord. This causes so much stress, anger, sadness and sleep deprivation. Several people are already walking with the doctor.” But everyone is required to draw at the cross to agree to the demolition.
A conversation with Woonservice did not provide more answers. “It is clear that my next home and garden will be smaller and my rent higher.” Zefat calls it a ‘bad’ plan. “A hole is being beaten in Schoonoord.” Before March 20, everyone must agree with the demolition. “While we only get a design from the municipality in April.”
Schoonoorder also focuses the arrows on the village council of Schoonoord. According to Zefat, it was present at the discussions with the municipality and Housing Foundation. “They signed for secrecy and not for the interests of the residents.”
