The report of the fire at the Kloet in Enkhuizen was received by the control room around 2.50 am. According to the North Holland North Safety Region, the stairwell was full of smoke.
Removed from balcony with aerial platform
The fire was eventually extinguished quite quickly. However, a number of residents were stuck on their balconies because of the smoke. They were brought down by the fire brigade using an aerial platform. They made up for it: no one had to be treated by ambulance personnel.
Smoke was found in all homes around the porch. The residents concerned could therefore not go home last night. It is not yet known when this will be possible again.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
