Residents leave their homes due to shooting on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border

Residents of settlements located in close proximity to the area of ​​exacerbation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border are being evacuated from their homes.

According to local media, the situation remains tense and the population prefers to wait out the conflict in safe places.

It is noted that due to the skirmish that broke out between the Kyrgyz and Tajik security forces, medical institutions in the Batken region switched to high alert.

At the same time, the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan reports that at the moment the victims of the confrontation have not been admitted to hospitals – the media also do not report on the presence of wounded and dead.

According to preliminary information, the situation escalated after the Tajik security forces blocked a section of the Batken-Isfana road in the Tort-Kocho area of ​​​​the Batken region, connecting the Kyrgyz cities of Batken and Isfana.

Allegedly, this happened after cars with citizens of Tajikistan were thrown with stones.

As a result, the parties used weapons, the Kyrgyz border guards claim that the Tajik military is using mortars and grenade launchers.

Currently, representatives of the authorities of both countries have left for the place of the state of emergency, they intend to resolve the situation.
