It is a temporary solution, because ultimately the Cabr must also become searchable online for everyone at home. That would be possible in the first instance on January 1, but was postponed after a warning from the Dutch Data Protection Authority for privacy risks. Minister Eppo Bruins (Education, Culture and Science) is working on a bill to achieve broad accessibility.

From next Monday, a place can be reserved every Monday at 1 p.m. for the following week. People with a reservation can take three hours at a computer and they can also view files from the paper archive for the rest of the time slot. For people with a morning reservation, this also applies before the afternoon. On Tuesday there are three three -hour shifts available and two on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. In total there are 45 places per week and that means that demand will be a lot larger than the supply, according to it.
‘Who comes first who first grinds’
There is no selection with interested parties with an investigation interest, but it is “who comes first who first grinds”. After a reservation, it offers to do a small preliminary investigation into hits with the search wish, to prevent people from “coming from Groningen for nothing,” said a spokesperson for the NA.

Digitization
Currently, almost 11 million pages of a total of 30 million pages have been digitized. It is expected to be ready in 2027 with scanning all 485,000 files of people investigated on collaboration with the Germans in World War II. The order of digitization is based on the various legal organs. For example, files from, among others, the special council chamber and stands were scanned. This means that in general heavier cases with often more victims are the first to be digitized. In addition to the original – sometimes difficult readable – documents, these can also be seen in the digital archive.
It is intended that the CART also becomes digitally searchable as quickly as possible at Regional Archives. Discussions about this are currently running.
