In Freiburg only reservists

Freiburg right-back Kilian Sildillia played his last Bundesliga game in the starting line-up in April against VfL Wolfsburg (1:2). He was sent off with a red card. A summer move to Wolves then allegedly failed, which is now becoming an issue again for the Frenchman. This time it could work.
According to information from transfer reporter Florian Plettenberg, the player has reached an agreement with VfL. It’s about a loan that should result in a permanent transfer after the season with the help of a purchase option that may be mandatory. But the people of Lower Saxony still have to talk to the people of Freiburg about this.
Negotiations with the Freiburg team are scheduled to take place shortly. The “Kicker” reported at the weekend that this had not yet happened – even no contact of any kind between VfL and the SCF because of Sildillia. Accordingly, the Breisgauers’ first priority is to find a replacement. One such would be Sildillia in Wolfsburg after the transfer of Ridle Baku (26) to RB Leipzig was completed last week. In mid-December, the magazine also wrote that a change was unlikely. Sildillia and his mother, who is also his advisor, do not see a move to VfL as a suitable next career step, it was said at the time.
The fact that Sildillia’s move to Wolfsburg didn’t happen last summer is said to have been due to VfL’s offer of 12 million being too low for Freiburg. The sports club is said to have aimed for 15 million euros, which at the time also corresponded to Sildillia’s market value. However, the player didn’t get a leg up under the new coach Julian Schuster and his market value slipped by a third to 10 million euros. He is tied to Freiburg until 2026. Wolfsburg should also have Andreas Skov Olsen (25) from FC Brugge on the list for the right side as an offensive variant.
