Red Bull Salzburg has apparently prepared to say goodbye to attacker Karim Adeyemi. As transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports, the “Red Bulls” are signing Brazilian Fernando for the new season. The twelve-time Austrian champion paid a little more than 6 million euros for the services of the 23-year-old.
Fernando is currently under contract with Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine until 2024. In the season that has now been interrupted, the offensive man, who has been injured in the meantime, scored eight goals and two assists in 14 games across all competitions. In Salzburg, he is planned as the successor to Adeyemi, who has been associated primarily with Borussia Dortmund for months. According to “Sky”, BVB and RBS have agreed on a fee of around 35 million euros – however, the fronts in the negotiations with the players have hardened.
If an Adeyemi transfer to the Black and Yellows comes about despite the current complications on the rumored terms and Fernando moves to Salzburg in return, the Austrians would have reinvested around a sixth of the income. TM user “rbsalzburg-16” was skeptical about the upcoming transfer: “I’d be a little surprised now! Some time ago, Christoph Freund (Head of Sport; ed.) announced that they would try to rejuvenate the team even further. At 23, the player would be a bit too old for me. Besides, Shakhtar Donetsk is not RB Salzburg’s usual ‘hunting ground’ now. Of course, the Ukraine war turned a lot of things upside down, but it would be a paradigm shift in my opinion.”
