The sporting management of Eintracht Frankfurt is likely to grow by a new member in the near future. Like the one who is well connected with the Hessians “fussball.news“Reporter Christopher Michel reports that Pirmin Schwegler has reached an agreement with the Bundesliga club about a commitment from January. Confirmation is still pending.

There has been speculation for months that the 37-year-old, who was active as a professional for the Eagles from 2009 to 2014, could return. It was already said in September that Schwegler should take up a position as technical director relatively soon. This has not happened yet – but the hurdle to agreement now appears to have been overcome.
Schwegler initially worked as a scout and chief scout for Bayern Munich between 2020 and 2023 and then moved to TSG Hoffenheim, where he was head of licensing and director of professional football until the beginning of September this year. The Swiss left Kraichgauer following the departure of former sports director Alexander Rosen.
It is still unclear what the distribution of tasks at Eintracht will look like in the future. Sports director Markus Krösche made the then head of the licensing department, Timmo Hardung, sports director in the summer of 2023. It is possible that Schwegler will be closer to the team in the future, for example at games, instead of the 35-year-old. Both know each other from their time together in Hoffenheim, where Schwegler was also a professional. Hardung was working there as a team manager at the time.
