Report: Borussia Mönchengladbach lets Andreas Poulsen go free of charge

Currently awarded to FCI

“The big upheaval is imminent in the summer, but with significantly fewer financial opportunities than in recent years. We will sell without being able to replace someone of equal value,” announced Borussia Mönchengladbach’s squad planner Steffen Korell recently in an interview with the magazine “11 Freunde”. One player who, despite an ongoing contract until 2023, should definitely be removed from the Niederrheiner payroll is left-back Andreas Poulsen, who is currently on loan to bottom of the second division Ingolstadt. This is reported by theimage‘ newspaper at the beginning of the week.

The sobering sporting balance of the Dane, who ex-sports director Max Eberl brought from FC Midtjylland to Borussia in 2018 for 4.5 million euros: zero Bundesliga appearances, 24 games for the second representation in the Regionalliga West, since the beginning of 2020 three loans Austria Vienna (twice) and the FCI. The 22-year-old didn’t impress there either, having only played two games in the 2nd Bundesliga and two games in the Bayernliga Süd in Ingolstadt this season.

“We will definitely never see him in the 1st league, that’s for sure,” quotes “Bild” from an unnamed “foal” professional with a view to the 17-time Danish U21 international. FC Ingolstadt has an option to buy Poulsen as part of the loan, but according to the report, Borussia Mönchengladbach is also ready to let the defender go free next summer.
