Finnish athleisure brand Rens, known for their carbon-neutral sneakers made from coffee grounds, has expanded its collection with a first-ever bamboo hoodie. This is vegan and is also produced in a climate-neutral manner from coffee grounds, recycled plastic and bamboo viscose.
It takes coffee grounds from 43 cups of coffee and recycled polyester from 12.5 plastic bottles to make an “Elemental” hoodie, which costs €99 and is available in the US, UK and Europe; the remaining 40 percent is made up of bamboo viscose.
This is perfect for an athleisure garment like a hoodie, as it is a real feel-good fiber that is not only soft, but also very breathable and moisture-wicking and dries quickly. In addition, the fiber is kind to the skin, has an antibacterial effect, protects against UV rays and is 100 percent biodegradable.
It is also temperature-regulating, i.e. cooling in summer and warming in winter. Bamboo viscose is also particularly color-stable, so that even after repeated use and washing, the five colors of the “Elemental” – black, peach, red, turquoise and white – remain real and vibrant.
“The production of the fibers requires significantly less energy, is therefore cheaper to produce and, due to its growth rate, is one of the fastest renewable resources on earth. In addition, the hoodie is to be produced in a climate-neutral manner. By supporting climate projects recommended by ClimatePartner, Rens offsets the expected climate emissions during production,” summarizes the brand.
Each hoodie also has a hidden zippered pocket in the front kangaroo pocket for convenient and secure storage of keys, phone, wallet or other valuables. An additional pocket, also with a zipper, is located on the upper part of the sleeve.

Rens has decided to offer his first garment not only as a physical item, but also as a limited edition NFT. Instructions on how to get this can be found on the brand’s website. The first buyers of the hoodie even get the NFT directly as a gift.
“So that no costs are incurred as a result of the gift, the NFT coinage (minting) takes place when Rens takes over the “Gas Fee”. The division remains exciting. The limited total edition of almost 2,022 pieces is divided into regular, rare and epic NFT. Who gets which NFT is random and will only be revealed on April 14,” reveals the brand.
