Remis in Hanover: Fürth has to continue to tremble

SpVgg Greuther Fürth near Hannover 96 received the away win in late a goal for 1: 1 (0: 1). And suddenly it has to be trembled again for relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga. Before the last matchday, the Franks are only one point before the relegation place 16.

The team of Hanover’s interim coach Lars Barlemann was only about a conciliatory end of the season. 96 missed the climb again – with six points behind the relegation place, there was no realistic chances before the game to attack the competition from Elversberg and Co. again. Under Barlemann, however, the shape curve of Hanover recently pointed up again: The former assistant coach took two victories to the start against 1. FC Köln and SSV Ulm.

Quite different, the starting point of the Fürther, who fight for bare survival in the league – tied with Braunschweig, which is located on the relegation place, the francs were somehow to score in Hanover. And for this, Fürth had installed Thomas Kleine on the coaching position after being separated from Jan Siewert. “We wanted to force it,” said Hanover’s coach Barlemann. That was a minute later, when the SpVgg keeper was powerless: after a cornerstone, Phil Neumann climbed the highest and headed into the far corner – 1-1. The SpVgg had given up the longed -for victory very late. And in added time it almost set the complete KO: after a goal by Havard Nielsen, it was supposed to be 2-1 for 96. After a long check, the Treffer did not last because of an offside position of the goal shooter.

“We should first think positively that we had a point today,” said Fürth’s coach Kleine after the game. “I don’t care. We have everything in my hand.”

However, the opponent is not a bad one: Bundesliga promoted Hamburger SV is a guest (May 18, 2025, 3:30 p.m.). At the same time, Hanover had an away game in Berlin in front of his chest on the 34th matchday.
