Acquitted of rape
Dani Alves was acquitted on appeal in March after being sentenced to 4.5 years in prison in February 2024 for raping a woman in a nightclub in Barcelona on December 31, 2022. The Brazilian was released on March 25, 2024 pending the hearing of the appeal case and after paying a bail of 1 million euros. At that point he had already spent fourteen months behind bars.

Alves was considered one of the best right backs in the world during his career. He played most of his career for Barcelona, but also played (briefly) for Juventus, PSG, São Paulo and Pumas. It was at the latter club in Mexico that the Brazilian ended his career in 2023, having terminated his contract after the whole affair broke out.

Alves’ new calling is also evident on his Instagram account. There he calls himself a ‘disciple of Jesus Christ’ and shares Bible texts with his photos. At the beginning of October, Alves also became a father for the first time. However, together with his partner Joana Sanz (33), he keeps his child far out of public life.
