Relocation handled a week faster in Kortrijk from now on

If you move, you must register at the town hall of your city or municipality, at the latest eight days after you have moved into your new home. The district inspectorate then comes by for a home inspection. That is a whole paperwork, but no longer in Kortrijk.

“Because all our district inspectors have a tablet, we were able to put an end to the paper flow around home checks, and work completely digitally,” says Kris Crepel of the police. “The resident himself no longer has to wait for the sometimes time-consuming administrative process.”

This means that the process is much faster: “Where the turnaround time from declaration to registration used to be about 21 days, after a few weeks of testing we see that it is now 13 days,” says Mayor Ruth Vandenberghe.
