The stray cat that has been provided with food and drinks by residents of the Koolhof district in Deurne for six months was picked up on Monday by a foundation that specializes in the care of cats. Earlier, local residents themselves tried to catch the animal several times, but the cat did not allow that.

“I am so happy that he is now safe,” says Yvonne van Bommel DMG Deurne. She was one of the people who took care of the hangover who has been around since February near the Jumbo supermarket on the Scheldt. “The foundation that has taken him now is a certified organization that has a lot of experience with these types of cases. They had imprisoned him within half an hour and immediately gave him a cure against fleas and dewormed him.”

“You shouldn’t think that this had lasted until the winter.”

Van Bommel was increasingly worried about the cat, which she had already affectionately given the name Jumbo: “Now the temperatures can still be done for such an animal to stay outdoors, but you should not think that this had lasted until the fall or winter. In addition, it was not clear whether he might have had diseases among the members.”

That is why she contacted different authorities, but they did not respond or asked Yvonne to catch the animal. “I have called so much in the last few days to try to find a solution. The animal ambulance that focuses on the municipality of Deurne wanted to place a catch cage. But if it became damaged or would be taken, the costs were for me.”

“Jumbo can now reckon and get it.”

Van Bommel found a listening ear among the employees of a foundation in Veldhoven. She told them what attempts she had already made and that there were people in the neighborhood who would rather not see the kitten and therefore took the food away. “That is of course not possible,” said the employees of the Veldhoven organization. “He just needed help and he gets it now. He can reckon and recover.”

After catching the cat, it turned out that the animal has a scar on its nose and eye. “We don’t know if anyone has done ugly against him or whether he has had a fight with another hangover. But all this is now a thing of the past and we are going to take good care of him,” the specialists of the shelter say.

“I would prefer to shout from the rooftops that this harrowing situation has now come to an end. Fortunately, Jumbo is now in good hands and hopefully a loving new owner will soon be found for him,” Van Bommel responds.
