Relay women 4×400 meters to World Cup final with Lisanne de Witte

Lisanne de Witte can prepare for a World Cup final in Budapest. The athlete from Castricum qualified with the 4×400 meter relay team by finishing third in the series: 3.23.75. Jamaica and Canada were faster, but the top three of the heat qualified directly for the final on Sunday.

The relay women were chosen as Sports Team of the Year last year. Lieke Klaver from Enkhuizen, who was now missing in the series, De Witte, Eveline Saalberg and Femke Bol captured the gold at the European Athletics Championships in Munich last summer in 3:20.87, the best European time of the year.

The women in the relay had also been successful with a silver medal in the 4×400 meters at the 2022 World Indoor Athletics Championships in Belgrade. At last year’s World Cup in Eugene, USA, the team was disqualified due to a wrong substitution. The men already qualified for the final 4×400 meters.

The finals are on Sunday evening from 9.37 pm.
