According to a media report, Borussia Dortmund is preparing to say goodbye to Tony Reitz. The leading player of BVB’s second representation is reportedly moving to the 2nd Bundesliga.
According to Sky, Tony Reitz, captain of BVB II, is about to move to second division club 1. FC Magdeburg. The transfer is said to have already been decided, so both clubs have agreed on the details. The change has not yet been officially announced.
The TV station states that the transfer fee is 400,000 euros; the medical examination and the signing of the contract are planned for Friday. It is said that Reitz should sign a contract until 2028 with an option for a further year.
The 21-year-old is the younger brother of Rocco Reitz, who will also move in the summer. Gladbach’s homegrown team is drawn to Bundesliga rivals RB Leipzig. Tony Reitz was also once trained at Borussia vom Niederrhein, but then moved to Borussia Dortmund in the winter of 2025. His contract with BVB actually runs until 2027.
Promotion to captain at BVB II
Tony Reitz immediately took on a key role in the second representation of the Revierklub. After twelve appearances in the 3rd league in Dortmund’s 2024/25 relegation season, a total of 32 games followed in the completed 2025/26 regional league season, which he played as captain. He also appeared on the pitch five times for the black and yellow team in the Premier League International Cup U21. BVB won the tournament in the final against Real Madrid in mid-May.
The youngster can be used in both defensive midfield and central defense, but BVB head coach Niko Kovac has not yet been earmarked for games in the first team. With a move to 1. FC Magdeburg, Tony Reitz would now take the next step in his development.
The Magdeburgers finished the last second division season in 14th place in the table, two points ahead of the relegation zone.
